To know what features would make my platform successful, I looked at the industry as a whole and picked four retailers with successful e-commerce platforms. I looked for ways in which mine could be competitive as well as capitalize on opportunities missed in the marketplace. What I found was that the online furniture space was competitive, however a vintage offering was harder to find, unless one knew what they wanted and was willing to pay any price for it.
The Creative Entertainer
A socially involved person, motivated by aesthetics and quality. Has an interest in interior design and seeks to create interesting and inviting spaces for themselves, friends and family. Often looking for a piece to “tie the room together”
User Persona: The Frugal Collector
An enthusiast, they appreciate history and know the names of several furniture designers. The Frugal Collector seeks to decorate their home or office with a kind of beauty that has historical significance. They appreciate quality and will pay for it, but prefer to avoid the term pretentious whenever possible. They are price conscious and value authenticity.
